This place is poppin! The waiters, owner, and atmospher was worth it on Wednesday nights. The food was excellent and the drinks are great! Our waiter Jovani was really open and funny we will definitely come back with out friends!

I was invited to join a friend at 3Vino’s this week, so I made the 30 minute trek from LA to Covina — something I would rarely have done if not for the invitation from a good friend. I had already heard about the restaurant on a local radio station (The Wave). I honestly didn’t know what to expect, except that it would likely be a disappointment. I couldn’t have more wrong.

Food: First of all, I am a seafood freak, and honestly I’ve never found a place in LA that blew me away more than this place. The range of seafood options was unbelievable, and it wasn’t the run of the mill seafood you see in every restaurant, it was flavors and combinations I had never seen before. From the thick chunks of calamari in a lemon reduction, to the incredible “Zarzuela De Mariscos”….it was a treat for any foodie.

Ambiance: Nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Modern/hip meets Havana circa 1952. They had dancers with the big feather headdresses, like something out of a scene from the Tropicana, and a live band. I almost thought Ricky Ricardo and his big band would come out at any minute. Really cool experience — felt like I was on vacation in Rio or Buenos Aires.

Service: I felt like royalty. The staff seemed truly happy and thrilled to have us. They were extremely attentive.

BOTTOM LINE: I’m definitely making the trek again. I can’t stop thinking about the food

Great food, great ambience. This is one of the best cuban places I’ve been to… and certainly the best one I’ve eaten at in Southern California. Try the churrasco and the empanadas… delicious. The steak was perfectly tender and seasoned! The staff was attentive, but not overbearing. Worth the drive if you are in the SoCal area.

We were there for Sept 16 (Mex independence day) and the mariachi did liven up the place. We went back last night and again it was packed with locals and great people. The bar was great (Sergio) I think that was his name, he did a great job on making sure we always had a cold beer on our hand. Thanx Bro!!! I like the taco man outside the patio, it helps especially when you have a few beers and you don’t want to drive with the smell of alcohol on your breath. Overall I’m impresed and I’m a fan. Thank you to management who listened to the guest and have made an effort to change the place for the best. Thank you and I would recomend this place for the drinks and night life. Thursdays are the best nights…

It was my first time here and was told the restaurant turns into club after 10pm so I did not have high hopes for the quality of the food. But guess what? Everything I tried were all really good. 3 Vinos offers fusion of Cuban, Spanish and anything in between. I saw Paella Valencia on their menu which piqued my interest but ultimately, I decided on Zarzuela De Mariscos or Spanish Seafood Stew. The dish consisted of baby lobster tails, shrimps, mussels, clams, squid, scallops, fresh fish chunks, in a spicy tomato garlic herb sauce. The menu did not indicate that the dish would be spicy so I was very surprised by the heat but it was not spicy to the point where you cannot taste the other flavors, just enough to make me sweat in inappropriate places. The seafood was cooked perfectly, the ingredients so fresh that it tasted sweet. Not sugary sweet but the sweetness you taste from shun ingredient (the peak of seasonal ingredients). I was definitely impressed with my dish but when I tried my date’s entrée Camarones a la Plancha, I thought I died and had gone to lemony, buttery, garlicky heaven. Yes, I’m exaggerating a bit but it was very very good. Their menu describes it as Butterfly jumbo shrimp seasoned and grilled to perfection and topped with lemon garlic butter sauce. The dish is packed with substantial lemon flavor and went well with rice and fried plantains.

After the meal, our server set up a corner table for my party of six people near the DJ booth. Normally all the tables get cleared away but we just ordered a bottle of Dom Pérignon so they made exception for us. The music the DJ was playing wasn’t very exciting but I thought it was neat how he synced the music he was playing and the music video playing on huge plasma TVs. Per my date, it was very classy.

I don’t usually venture out to Covina but looks like I will from on.

Well if you live in the area this is a perfect place to go locally. Its free to get in, it has an ok dress code (no bums allowed lol) Drink prices are ok.

Im not that into salsa so at first i hesitated to go but my friends convince me to go. Between 7pm to 10:30pm the salsa band plays. Alot of older folks are there in that time to see the band. When it gets around 10:30 the Dls starts playing hip-hop, spanish rock, 80s and alot of other music.
You either need to get here real early to avoid the long line or real late.
The crowd is pretty much mix.

Well I was there 3rd week of October. I have to tell you I grew up in Covina and it’s nice to have a high end, nice place for dinner.
You don’t have to drive to L.A. for the ambiance and feel of L.A. or Beverly Hills.

I love the bar, it’s very elegant and comfortable. It’s modern and has the feel of a High end bar in Los Angeles.  I love the bar with its lights and friendliness of the staff.

I particularly enjoyed the Ribeye steak there. The waitress suggested it and it was a 10!  ( on a scale 1-10) The Ribeye is not your typical steak, it’s so good I had to go back tonight (one week later) to have the same plate.

If you do get a chance to go, make sure you try the delicious Sangria. This restaurant offers, great food, drinks, ambiance and a latin flavor. I highly suggest you check it out. I promise you will not be dissappointed.

Salsa Wednesdays are here…

It’s about time a new place opened up in the area with nice ambience and a smooth dance floor.  I haven’t sampled the fare yet but  3 vinos serves a mighty mojito and has a dj that keeps the salsa, bachata, and some merengue coming.  There’s a large bar in the center of the room and later in the evening they will clear the dinner section out to open up a second part of the dance floor on the other side of the bar.  That means more room to dance in and less stepping on my feet!Even though this weekly event is only a couple of weeks in, it’s looking like a good start.  There’s a nice mix of younger folks, not just the older salsa crowd.  If you’re a salsero/salsera and are in the area, I’d give it a shot.

Of course, many of us wish the weekend would last just a little longer.

One group is hoping a new event called Sangria Sundays will help stave off the Monday blues.

“It’s a nice happy extension to the weekend,” said Talaya Trigueros, on-air host with radio station 94.7, The WAVE, which partnered with 3 Vino’s restaurant and musician Mike Parlett to host Sangria Sundays.

The Sunday evening event, which kicked off two weeks ago, features sangria-and-dinner specials at 3 Vino’s, accompanied by live entertainment from Parlett and his band and special guest performers playing a variety of easy listening, jazz, R&B music and more.

“This is great if you went to church (Sunday) morning, did some gardening in the afternoon, maybe watched some football and then you come here, to Sangria Sundays,” Trigueros said. “I think the San Gabriel Valley is happy this is here and The WAVE is here in their neighborhood.”

Trigueros hosted Sangria Sunday on Oct. 17, which featured raffle giveaways and guest performers that turned Parlett’s three-piece band into a lively seven-piece band at times.

“We have different special performers and some legendary special guests,” said Parlett. “We want people to enjoy some great music, great food and drinks.”

3 Vino’s features live music and DJ’s on various nights, including flamenco and Latin jazz on Sunday mornings.

The addition of live music on Sunday nights was only natural to restaurant owner Raul Trevino, who plans to expand the restaurant. He is also celebrating his restaurant’s first year in Covina.
